A happy new year to you all. Part of my new years (and part of many other people’s new years) is the creating of resolutions. In general I am against new years resolutions.
Why?
Because people could have started (and kept) a new habit at any time of the year. Starting that habit at the beginning of the year seems arbitrary.
I stopped making new years resolutions a few years back. The reason I did this was because I had not once kept them. At the beginning of 2005 I made 2 new years resolutions.
1. To not wear my jacket or my jumper to school no matter how cold it was.
2. To drink 6 eggs from a cup (Rocky style).
I went through the whole year not wearing a jacket or jumper to school… until the very end of winter. I cracked and 8 months of hard work went down the drain.
I never even bothered an attempt at drinking the 6 eggs.
This year I have made a new years resolution, but have gone about things differently.
I made a bet with my friend. If I did not carry out my new years resolutions, I’d have to pay him $50. This should hopefully inspire me to take action on these resolutions until the end of 2011.
The resolution is as follows.
Simon has to:
-Wake up at 5am every day
-Make 2 youtube vids every week (Monday and Thursday)
-Blog every day
-Read one book a week
-Run down Roland, Down Campbell, up Campbell, across Fox Valley, Across Pacific Highway, Down Monteith, Up Rothwell, home
He must do this throughout 2011 or pay Pid $50.
The exceptions to this are if he is away from home, or if he is badly sick or injured.

We will see whether or not I can keep these up. Regardless, this blog will be updated much more frequently throughout this year in the attempt to keep these resolutions.
Wishing you all the best for 2011.
Regards.
-Simon
